Siobhan O’Malley is
a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Churchill
High School and went on to enroll at Lakehead University before she
eventually entered nursing at Confederation College. Siobhan graduated from
Nursing and began her career at McKellar Hospital on the Maternal / Newborn
unit. She soon moved into her current position as a Registered Nurse on Labour
& Delivery at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (www.tbrhsc.net/programs_&_services/maternity_centre.asp) (www.tbh.net). Her
work includes the assessment, triage and care for antepartum, intrapartum and
postpartum mothers and the newborn infants. While in Tasmania she hopes
to visit both public and private hospitals, as well as birthing centres; and
learn about the current healthcare concerns of expectant Tasmanian mothers.
Siobhan’s family consists of her parents John and
Sheree, who are newly retired and enjoying quiet country life in rural Ontario.
As well as, her two sisters Sarah, who works with movie props; and Jennie who
is a television producer for Rogers. She has two furry children Sammy and
Smokey, and many extended family members.
In her free time Siobhan enjoys playing ultimate frisbee,
volleyball, hiking and snowshoeing. She also enjoys quieter time simply hanging
out with friends and family. She is active in her local church, specifically
helping with highschool and university student programming.
